No-Mad

No-Mad

All across this plane, nomadic people walk the earth,

they come in many forms, some with their herds that graze the turf.

Goats and sheep and camels, even reindeers these folks warden,

nomadic pastoral tribes, they freely roam across the garden.

These pastoralists not in our past, they roam in their tens of millions,

their imprint on this earth, is not a trace, kept to a minimum.

Three plus million Mongols roam the Gobi desert sands,

they herd goats and yaks and camels, and dwell in yurts across the lands.

Four times a year they up and go, one for every season,

Kashmere wool from their trusted goats are the cash crop of their region.

They must be aware of the big bad wolf, that's not a metaphor, that's a warning,

this way of life is harsh, but it's in many ways rewarding.

Then we come to the Gaddi people of Himachal Pradesh,

The Himalayan foothills of India, these people blessed.

These are the mountain shepherds and their nights are very cold,

they spend them around the fireside, with a tale to be told.

The shepherds in sheeps clothing, they weave things out of wool,

their culture expressed through song and celebration to the full.

Now let us meet the Sami people of Norway, Finland, Sweden,

has well as the Kola peninsula, in Russian lands, a snow capped Eden.

With 100,000 people and nine distinctive tongues,

some of which are shaman and they play shamanic drums.

Underneath the northern lights, these are the reindeer herders,

surviving the extremes, their life is tough but it has purpose.

The Inuits, the Eskimos, the hardy hunting 'He Men',

from Alaska and Siberia, from Russia and from Greenland.

Their home no less than an ice brick dome, AKA, the Igloo,

their platter made of blubber fat, seal meat and Caribou.

And then of course we can't forget the original Aboriginals,

living in their dream time, and drawing art subliminal.

They dance and sing and play the didge, and speak to ancient spirits,

they sustain themselves and nuts and roots and fruit, turtle and shellfish.

And then we come to the Bedouins of the Arabian Peninsula,

riding on their camels in the sands all rich in silica.

From Egypt from Israel from Iraq and from Syria,

Jordan and Morocco, Sauda Arabia and from Libya.

The population of their Nations stands at four whole million,

Nomadic Saharan Desert Folks, it is thought at the very minimum.

Resourceful and hospitable, they bring food to the table.

Their desert provides them sweet delights as dates are their bread, their staple.

Trust in God but tie your camel, this wisdom holds such meaning,

as their camels are their livelihood. These people are so intriguing.

'Bedouin' of course being the Arabic word for 'Nomad',

Listen to the beats of the Tinariwen, playing desert sounds at Womad.

The Berbers and the Tuaregs also traverse these Golden Sands,

roaming around freely across the Saharan desert lands.

Deep in the forest, live little men and women,

they dwell in central Africa and they live a life fulfilling.

They are known as the Pygmy tribes and they come in many flavours,

the Bongos and the Baka's and their sounds you'll surely savour.

Their days are filled with song and dance and their songs birth from their dream time.

Their diet filled with meat and plants, hunter gatherers have more free time.

Then Notably the Kogis, from the peaks of deep Colombia,

when the Spanish came to town, they packed their bags to become wanderers.

They wandered up the hills to Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta,

the place where they lied low for centuries as 'eco fathers'.

The Keepers of this Earth, they hold a strong enlightened ethos.

Their hand-weaved natural fibres are a reflection of the ether.

They know that everything on earth is intrinsically connected,

and they call us 'little brother', in the West, BOLD is their message.

The Shaman of the family will spend many years in darkness,

DMT activation, and inner wisdom he is sure to harness.

Now lets us dance along to the sound of the 'Kalbelia',

the Indian desert Gypsies of Rajasthan depicts their area.

Known as the 'Cobra Gypsies', these men are the real snake charmers,

and their lives are filled with colour so they must have real great karma.

They go from place to place to place catching snakes and doing dances,

their movements are their livelihood, these peeps are so enchanted.

Now let us come to the Kochi people of Afghan and Pakistan.

'Just Passing' Nomadic pastoralists, on their Camel 'caravan'.

One and a half, million human souls, living free of a fixed abode,

going from place to place to place, on the sandy desert road.

Their livestock is their livelihood, which they exchange in nearby towns,

these people treat their goats and sheep like their children all year around.

Bright & colourful yet quiet, they traverse two times a year,

changing with the seasons, minimalist survival gear.

Revered for their curious nature of unexplored terrains,

that in the late 1800's, they were invited to Australian plains.

2000 plus Kochi cavaliers were transported to Aussie land,

to carve the path of the 'Ghan' train, through Aussie terrain and sands.

Now we cannot talk about nomadic life, without revering the 'Romas',

Romany Gypsies go by many names, and the perception of them is quite polar.

For some they're fortune tellers, for others they will snatch your children,

misconceptions bring trouble to innocent folk, who simply seek love & fulfilment.

They call it 'The Curse Of The Gypsy', but they're not the ones doing the cursing,

they are victims or rumour for reason alone, because their way of life is traversing.

Their tongue is a mixture of dialects, all rooted from Indian lands,

& the skills they acquired on their journey are vast, many learnt to be good with their hands.

The Middle East, Northern Africa, & Europe right through to the Balkans,

they ventured afar, gypsy wagon their home, for centuries, summer winter spring Autumn.

They brought with them their dance and their culture, the cymbal, violin and guitar,

the flamenco took form, it was birthed, it was born, from the gypsy mystical avatar.

Their language seeped into our culture, English words we use often today,

such as 'wonga' and 'pal', even 'cushti', took their seed from the gypsy airways.

They have a long history of persecution, & were often hunted down & enslaved,

but their will was so strong they survived it, hence 8 to 12 million stand today.

This is the brief story of Romas, may it mesmorise enchant and enthral.

There are countless examples of No-Mads, too many to highlight them all.

Each culture has their own uniqueness,

yet they have one key thing that's the same.

They have faced persecution and land snatch,

throughout history again and again.

They've been raped, they've been pillaged & tortured.

'Clear those teepees to make way for our Towns'.

They've been subject to brutality, slaughter.

They've been pharmed and then drugged & dumbed down.

'Prove that it's here that you're stationed' they say,

'Here's a pipeline, so we can steal your resources.

In return we grant you free education, hooray,

on how we conquered YOU and your horses'.

'Our guns are bigger than yours don't you know,

our men, ammunition are surplus.

We have fire technology, so what we say goes,

and you primitives are only fit for the circus'.

'We'll offer you stately healthcare don't you know,

then we'll demonise your herbs and your healing.

We will shoot down your food source, the Buffalo,

then brag about all that we're achieving'.

From demonisation to enslavement,

from Gas Lighting to straight execution.

The fruits of our labour are what we shall reap,

and so let there be no more confusion:

We've each been pushed into a corner,

and toxic are today's ways of life.

We've been plucked from the flora and fauna,

that God gave us each of us Rays of Light.

It's been said that we were ALL once nomadic,

and we travelled by saddle by sail.

But the way we live now, it is tragic.

Each stagnated, disconnected and stale.

We've lost touch with our roots, with the basics,

we don't know how to live off the land.

Gone from farming to farmed, in the matrix,

the whole game it has got out of hand.

We don't know the first thing about diet,

'Western' food mostly centred on grains.

All designed to keep us passive and quiet,

with bad teeth and a malnourished brain.

The 'West' is one BIG eco disaster,

& 'zero carbon' our state programmed goal.

Whilst the true eco people in nature,

Self-Sufficient were turfed out and CULLED.

'Whatever you want on your doorstep',

Now the same people who sold us their CON,

are trying to sell us some more tech:

Called 'smart meters', to worsen their wrongs.

We have scarcity built into our psyche,

always told there is never enough,

but how can we know for ourselves see,

if there really are 'Too Many Of Us'?

We are living in times of great changes,

whatever you chose to believe.

And we have to be ready to evolve and adapt,

our behaviours, or else its our turn to leave.

There are ample examples of living,

that do not impact on the earth.

As we study each tribe, we get a different vibe,

a new flavour, way of life on this turf.

To live on this earth is our birth-rite,

as is freedom to traverse these vast lands.

It's our ancestry, it's in our cells, right?

But response- ability has to come hand in hand.

EVERY HUMAN on earth IS A NATIVE,

so our birth-rite to land is AFFIRMED.

Simply treat others how we wish to be treated,

then 'our' land shall be swiftly returned.

We can be Blessed with the Best of Both Worlds,

the Cream of the Crop for us All.

If we ACT on the wisdom of the ancients,

then the World of Corruption shall Fall.

There's a Prophecy passed on by the Hopis,

that in End Times The Tribes Will Unite.

They will Birth a New World, and Bring Hope see,

and Freedom and Truth, Love and Light.
